In chapter 8, Jennifer Kates and Adam Wexler assess the flow of official development assistance data available through the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development Assistance Committee Database and Creditor Reporting System. The chapter covers trends in overall official development assistance for health, as well as for infectious diseases specifically and as a share of health assistance. It also examines the roles played by each donor, with particular focus on the US government. The chapter concludes with glimpses into future financing prospects and issues surrounding global funding for infectious diseases being used to influence the behavior of both foreign and domestic players.
