This chapter argues that ethnocultural neutrality and group-neutral regulation cannot accommodate cultural pluralism nor guarantee stability and peace between ethnic majorities and minorities in East Central Europe. Traditional liberal attitudes lack empathy towards maintaining diversity. When faced with the hard facts of ethnic pluralism and rivalry, traditional liberal precepts are unable to find viable models of accommodation and cohabitation.
