This chapter presents oral history interviews with three American nuns who served as missionary workers: Sister Carita Pendergast, a Sister of Charity of Saint Elizabeth from Convent Station, New Jersey; Sister Rosemarie Milazzo, a member of the Maryknoll Sisters; and Sister Noreen Ellison, who worked with the Glenmary Home Missioners, an order of priests and brothers who serve the poor in rural areas of the South. The narratives capture the women's experiences over the past fifty years, beginning in the 1960s.
