Daniel Callahan, a cofounder of the Hastings Center in 1969, has been writing books and articles in the field of bioethics for some 45 years. Trained as a philosopher, but as someone who spent time early in his career as an editor, he has always aimed to do solid work in ethics but also to reach a broad public audience.
