This chapter reviews studies on genetic mechanisms (control of predispositions) depending on the interaction of several genes that may play an important role in determining sexual orientation. These include studies on the concordance of sexual orientation in monozigotic and dizygotic twins, maternal transmission and the Xq28 region of the X chromosome, and attempts to identify in the Xq28 region one or more genes that may contribute to the determinism of sexual orientation.
