This chapter addresses the questions: What is the “good life?” How does motivation contribute to well-being? A good life and well-being are not just about combining separate motivational elements, such as combining the Aristotelian virtues of contemplation and ethical behavior. Rather, they are about the relations among motivations, such as the relations involved in regulatory fit. More generally, they are about motivations, such as promotion, prevention, assessment, and locomotion, working together effectively. It is argued that a good life and well-being are about motivations working together effectively.
