From Apocalyptic Hopes to Destruction in the Movement for the Restoration of the Ten Commandments of God
Jean-François Mayer is one of the few Western scholars of NRMs to investigate the Movement for the Restoration of the Ten Commandments of God (MRTCG), the Ugandan group that, in the year 2000, exploded in an incident of mass suicide-murder. This chapter pieces together the fragments of available information about the MRTCG and considers alternative explanations of the group’s fiery end in terms of what we know about other incidents of NRM violence.
