This chapter discusses the economic development of Anhui province, located in the southeast of China. Anhui province has experienced rapid economic growth in recent years, with a GDP of 1,511.03 billion yuan in 2011, up by 13.5 per cent from 2010. The factors contributing to Anhui’s growth include a good environment and natural resources; an ideal location and convenient transportation links; a diverse collection of manufacturing projects; and beautiful scenery and excellent tourism. Since 2012, Anhui has received industries transferred from other regions and has also attracted a good level of foreign direct investment.
