Abstract

The first volume of this book explores the idea of legitimate property since ancient times. Beginning with the work of Plato and Aristotle, it traces the evolution of thinking about the origins and the grounding of (private) property in the Latin West. It shows the cumulative impact of the ancient Greeks and the Stoics, the Roman Law, the early Christian Fathers and the belief in natural law.
