This Introduction provides a brief introduction and overview. It includes a brief introduction to the substantival‐relational debate and a sketch of modal relationalism. It is argued that modal relationalism cannot jointly satisfy three desirable desiderata. An overview of the argumentative strategy of the following chapters is presented.
