Deviations from Ownership–Control Proportionality—Private Benefits and the Bigger Picture
This chapter comments on the study of the one share/one vote (OSOV) debate presented in Chapter 10. It attempts to clarify some issues by presenting three ‘hidden truths’ revealed by the study. The first ‘hidden truth’ relates to private benefits of control. The second highlights the changing landscape of the business world and the implications this has on the issues discussed. The third interesting issue is the question of what difference it would make if one opted for describing the current situation as one of ‘important changes over time’, or as ‘trends’.
