The events in Chapter 7 took place in The Laboratory for Making Things during the session immediately after the one reported in Chapter 6. Thus all of the children had already built Hot Cross Buns with the Montessori bells. This time, at the beginning of the session, the children were asked, first as a group and then individually, to clap just the rhythm of Hot Cross Buns. They were then given the following new task: Make some instructions that will tell a younger child how to clap the rhythm just as you did.
