Abstract

This book on neutron protein crystallography (NPC) begins with a brief review of the physics of neutrons and neutron diffraction, highlighting the differences between neutron and X-ray diffraction phenomena, and specific features of the interactions between neutrons and bio-macromolecules. Two types of neutron sources—steady-state, reactor neutron sources and pulsed, accelerator-driven neutron sources—are described, along with the different techniques used with each source.
