Nonlinear optical effects in astrophysical conditions
This chapter considers nonlinear effects in astrophysical medium. Topics discussed include photoionization processes in radiation-rich astrophysical plasma, rate of resonance-enhanced two-photon ionization in bichromatic radiation, resonance-enhanced two-photon ionization (RETPI) of Si II in the Weigelt blobs of Eta Carinae, and successive RETPI schemes for some light elements.
Keywords: astrophysical plasma, photoionization, resonance-enhanced two-photon ionization
