Early Medieval Greek (5th–10th c. AD): the misty transition
The Early Medieval period (5th–10th c.) is examined here. Despite the lack of reliable textual sources, a careful investigation of the available material shows the sociolinguistic situation concerning the AVCs, their varying contexts of use, and the first traces of developments found to be already established in subsequent stages.
