This chapter presents an exposition of certain aspects of the theory of Higgs pairs (also called ‘Higgs bundles’ by some authors). Topics covered include the moduli of vector bundles, Hecke correspondence, moduli of Higgs pairs, Higgs pairs and the fundamental group, non-abelian Hodge theory, and Hecke transformation and Hitchin discriminant.
