What relationship, if at all, exists between generous practices and personal well-being? The first chapter presents empirical evidence that Americans’ generous practices are strongly associated with greater well-being of the generous givers. The evidence examined involves a variety of forms of generous practice and a diversity of measures of well-being. In this chapter, the relationship of generosity and well-being, and the significant correlation between the two, is established.
