Conclusion
This book aim has been to examine the processes that transpired in the borderlands during the transition from the multinational imperial domains into the nationalizing, racial, and socialist states. Such transformation involved the overlapping of geographical spaces and political ideas between the empires and the newly mapped nations, the relationship between the state and the population at large, and the efforts of different ethnic and nationality groups to accommodate themselves to the changing political climate. The Conclusion summarizes the situation as it has changed over the period of time under scrutiny and looks forward to and makes predictions about the future.
