Preliminaries
This chapter provides a detailed analysis of the terminology employed throughout the book. It illustrates that lexical/semantic aspect (i.e., whether an eventuality is telic or atelic) and grammatical/morphological aspect (the perfective-imperfective alternation in the Slavic languages) are distinct. It also defines true lexical case versus so-called structural, inherent, semantic, and default cases.
