This chapter treats statives (essives) and the instrumental hypothesis of their origin; non-causative changes of state (fientives), i.e., inchoatives, deadjectival factitives (separable by language play like the similar juxtapositions); causative changes of state, scalar duratives, intensives, (re)iteratives, and frequentatives, desideratives, deverbals, deadjectivals, verbs created by extraction/secretion, diminutive-based verbs, and onomatopoeic verbs.
