It is possible that propositionalism is the worst semantics for intensional transitives, except for all the others. At the start of Chapter 4, it was noted that there is a higher-order alternative to propositionalism. It is championed most prominently in (Montague 1974) and this chapter begins with an outline of Montague's approach. It then argues for a variant of it that employs ideas taken from (Davidson 1967) and (Goodman 1949, 1976).
