Introduction
This introductory chapter begins with a brief discussion of the increased interest in corporate governance and the drive towards global standards. It then explains the main aim of the book, which is to broaden the debate on corporate governance by examining the governance practices of fourteen Japanese companies. An overview of the chapters included in this volume is presented.
