Busy creating an image of their city that can attract tourists and investors, all three cities relate it to their image of an ideal ‘European capital’ to which they aspire. It turns out, however, that the images of such a European capital differ among the three cities: they are based on different historical periods and accentuate different aspects of city functioning.
