This chapter analyzes the case of Ms S, who complains that she has been sexually assaulted. She says that her boyfriend raped her and that she wants to avoid pregnancy because she is not ready to bear its consequences. The local law permits abortion in the case of rape, when a complaint is filed with the police, and they conclude their inquiries into the circumstances. Ms S says her boyfriend has denied raping her, and Dr R knows police inquiries are often prolonged. It discusses what Dr R's obligations are, in light of medical, ethical, legal, and human rights considerations.
