This chapter focuses on the individuals and institutions that were responsible for recording and preserving the interviews. It pays special attention to M.A. Polievktov, who in April 1917, together with his friend and fellow Petersburg historian A.E. Presniakov, organized the Society for the Study of the Revolution. As part of this effort, Polievktov and his team interviewed a diverse group of key participants in the events of the February Revolution, including A.F. Kerenskii, N.S. Chkheidze, and M.V. Rodzianko. Using previously inaccessible family papers, this chapter examines Polievktov's family background and education, the professional and personal milieus in which he lived, and his political views in the period leading up to the February Revolution. The discussion then shifts to the interviewing process, and closes with a description of the efforts by Polievktov and his heirs to preserve the interviews transcripts during the years between 1917 and 2006.
