This chapter acts as a bridge between the chapter on Greek animal sacrifice and the chapter on Jewish animal sacrifice. It provides the classicist who is not familiar with Judaism with the necessary information about the Jewish sacrificial system and its differences from the Greek one. The chapter also describes the main crises in the history of the Jewish Temple in Jerusalem until its destruction by the Romans in AD 70.
