This chapter focuses on the battle between the Busca and Biga parties for control of the Catalan capital, a battle which drew Busca and remensa together in the face of common enemies. The Biga didn't accept defeat no more readily than the remensa landlords did, and in its struggle to overthrow the new municipal regime it won support from oligarchic forces entrenched in the Corts and Diputació.
