Workaholism: “If We Want To Live, We Must Rebuild”
Reconstruction was an all-pervasive and distinctive trait of post-war Germany. Compulsive working (workaholism) was one way to come to terms with the current hardship; it was also a means of blocking out the past. Within the physics community there were calls to rebuild national and international research.
