This chapter discusses a new tool called ‘a-maximization’ developed by Intriligator and Wecht. This technique allows for the calculation of the exact dimension of chiral operators for superconformal field theories (SCFTs) and, in some cases, it unravels some of the dynamics of chiral gauge theories.

Keywords:   a-maximization, Intriligator, Wecht, chiral gauge theories, superconformal field theories
