Towards effective forest conservation
This chapter provides a brief overview of some techniques that can contribute to more effective forest conservation. Methods are also presented that can help ensure that management decisions are based on scientifically rigorous information. Topics covered include protected areas, sustainable forest management, sustainable use of tree species, forest restoration, adaptive management, threat and vulnerability assessments, monitoring, and evidence-based conservation.
