This chapter discusses the clinical and ethical basis for the interdisciplinary team in surgical palliative care. It includes a section on the clinical and ethical foundations for interdisciplinary care and a comprehensive definition of the interdisciplinary team. A description of two models for delivering surgical palliative care is also provided in the last portion of the chapter.
