This chapter focuses on biodiversity as a dependent variable. It reviews some proposed mechanisms for fish community responses to climatic variability, it then details some case studies illustrating possible examples of these mechanisms. The chapter begins with the simplest example, that of two interacting species (or really two complexes of species), before moving on to studies on different aspects of community responses to climatic variability.
