Pragmatism and Realistic Socio-legal Studies
This chapter focuses on the important role of pragmatism in the field of socio-legal studies. Pragmatism as compared to postmodernism focuses on the search for the truth without being too sceptical and objective. Pragmatists believe that the search for scientific truth does not always begin with a value neutral stance. Instead what is really important is that in the end the whole community will be able to accept the truthfulness of the claim in question. It is in this way that the field of socio-legal studies can be transformed to a more realistic and relevant field of study.
