In addition to the original case-study-based research, the analysis presented here has benefited also from the following additional research: non-standard interviews with Russian industrial-relations researchers in Moscow in the summer of 1995 and in Canterbury in February 1996, and work from the project ‘The Management of Production in Some Russian Enterprises’ funded by a Nuffield Foundation Grant in 1996/7. The latter research was undertaken by John Thirkell and John Sharp of the University of Kent at Canterbury and Professor M. Voeikov, Institute of Economics, Russian Academy of Sciences. This study visited manufacturing enterprises in Tver, Nizhni Novgorod, and Moscow.
