Introduction
This introductory chapter begins by setting out the focus of the book, namely the three general features of Jewish biomedical law: the influence of morality upon the halakhah in this area, patient autonomy, and the role of scientific progress in the shaping of halakhic decisions. The bulk of the book deals with the moral dimension of biomedical halakhah. It then discusses the three features of Jewish biomedical law, the methodology used in the study, the structure of Jewish law, comparative law, and the influence of biomedical halakhah on the Israeli legal system.
