THE MONTHS ACCORDING TO THE Hindu Calendar (lunar) for the year 1948 are listed below. 1948, like all Gregorian years, fell between two Hindu years which usually began on a date in March or April. Thus January, February, March and a part of April were included in the Hindu year Sarvajit, 1871, according to the Shalivahana era, while the remaining months of 1948 formed part of Sarvadhari, 1871. Each year had a name and there were sixty years in each cycle.
