The author leaves Bagdad and arrives at Sook al Shyukh. He travels to Makul, or Markile, the English factory at Bussora, and is obliged to proceed to the city. He describes the city of Bussora and the character of its inhabitants and of its Governor. The author is invited to the house of Mr Manesty and gives his opinion of him. He feels disappointed of a passage to Bombay and is detained at Bussora. The author regrets his long detention at Bussora. He embarks on board the grab Shannon.
