This chapter addresses protecting civil liberties during the response to terrorism. It describes unique aspects of the “war on terrorism”, terrorism legislation, civil liberties, terrorism, executive power and civil liberties, dissent and academic freedom, and civil rights under siege. It concludes with a discussion of terrorism and the future of civil liberties.
