Taking Developmental Science and Free Speech Rights Seriously
This chapter examines the implications of social science findings and free speech jurisprudence for the development of a First Amendment jurisprudence for adolescents. It examines why current policies tend to ignore the fullness of adolescent development, including the various ways media and informational environments influence adolescent life. This discussion bolsters the rest of the analyses for it reveals the need for alternative ways to approach adolescents' rights.
