This chapter examines the developments in the career of Georges Barrère during the period from 1926 to 1928. In October 1926, Barrère gave two flute recitals in Cleveland, Ohio and in December he gave the premiere of William Mason's Three Country Pictures for flute solo with strings and horn. His Barrère Ensemble also played the premiere of Mason's concert in February 1927. In 1928, the New York Symphony Orchestra (NYSO) merged with the Philharmonic Orchestra and the Symphony made its last regular concert on April 1. This forced Barrère and other men of the New York Symphony to leave the orchestra.
