Patients and Families Reacting
This chapter presents narratives that speak to the ways in which patients and families react to end-of-life care, particularly the anguish of parents in letting go of their child. These stories are told using the perspective of the medical staff, and not of the patients or the families. It is determined that 147 out of 429 parents—34 percent—talked with their child about death, and that none of them had regretted it.
