This chapter examines the concept of gratitude in the religious traditions of Judaism. It discusses the two recurring themes in Jewish teaching on gratitude. These are cultivating gratitude to God and nurturing gratitude in human relationships. It analyzes gratitude-related prayers and teachings throughout Hebrew Scriptures and proposes ways for translating religion-based conceptions of gratitude into empirical research questions.
