This chapter explores the association between the experience of abuse in childhood, conduct disorder, alcohol dependence, and the commission of violence in adulthood. Involvement in domestic violence is the result of the historical legacy of tension between the sexes exacerbated by parental drinking and physical abuse in childhood. On the other hand, conduct disorder is not a risk factor for family violence but it is for non-family drunken violence.
