Public Child Welfare Practice
This chapter focuses on the practice of child welfare workers. Topics covered include their assessment of the risk of child abuse and neglect, permanency planning, fast-adopt programs, intensive attempts to reunite infants who were removed at birth with their biological parents, kinship care, and legal guardianship. A summary of key findings and recommendations regarding public child welfare practice is presented at the end of the chapter.
