Although the majority of infections in pregnancy have no effect on the developing fetus, some can lead to severe damage and disability. This chapter discsses screening for infections: rubella, syphilis, human immunodeficiency virus, hepatitis B, cytomegalovirus, toxoplasmosis, herpes simplex virus, chlamydia, and group B streptococcal infection.
