Deals with three specific areas of research developed in the last quarter of a century. The first one is the emergence of the ‘new political economy’ programme: public choice; neo‐institutionalism; the neo‐Austrian school; and the game‐theory approach to economics. The second area covers the neo‐Ricardian paradigm: Sraffa's economics. Finally, the chapter surveys the programme known as radical political economy, both in the USA and in Europe.
