An analysis of the treatment of terms involving number, size, and quantity in the Old Latin Gospels. Such features may appear to the speaker of a given language to be natural categories, but in fact they are often idiomatic and language‐specific. Particular attention is given to rare plurals, pluralia tantum nouns, to specialized senses of singular and plural, and to the treatment of adjectives of size and quantity.

Keywords:   Old Latin, plural, pluralia tantum, quantity, singular, size
