Unjustified limitation of eros to sexual attraction; actually, it deals with the interdependent relationship of all created realities. Desire as basic to human experience and an instance of cosmic drive towards fulfillment. Intertwining in humans of erotic attraction with love. Mysterious application of ‘desire’ to divine creativity and intrinsic teleology of the universe. Erotic attraction not evil; instead it has functioned as positive element in Jewish and Christian spirituality.

Keywords:   desire, interdependence, erotic, spirituality, teleology
