The story of Noah's three sons (9:18–29) is followed by a table of nations, which reflects features of the three sons (ch. 10). The two‐fold text (9:18–ch. 10) is framed by references to Noah and the flood, and at one level is concerned not with specific nations but with the balance between blessing and curse among humanity as a whole.

Keywords:   blessing, curse, Genesis 9–10, Noah's sons, table of nations
