Public Administration’s Canon(s) of Integration1
The notion that public administration has an identity crisis is rooted in a positivist embrace of unity of knowledge. This “identity crisis” evaporates when the study is regarded as an interdiscipline. In this chapter, various efforts at knowledge integration in public administration are discussed, illustrating why the study cannot be a traditional academic discipline with clear boundaries.
